| Stepping Stones for Kids is a program which helps children make the right choices when faced with peer pressure that can influence them to choose the wrong path. Stepping Stones helps kids to stand up and be strong individuals who won't give up their values to be part of the crowd. Under the guidance of a senior instructor and using hands-on activities, volunteer youth teach character building skills to children. The uniqueness of this program is that both youth and children learm from the activities and information shared. Topics Include:
In 2004, Douglas Economic Authority presented "Stepping Stones for Kids" to the Service-Learning Symposium (sponsored by the Tennessee Commission on National and Community Service in Nashville) for its uniqueness in using expelled and suspended youth to teach character-building skills to children. |
